What is the largest hardwood tree found east of the Sierra Nevada mountains?

Answer: Common Baldcypress, Louisiana

At a height of 96 feet and a circumference of 56 feet, this tree is not only the largest of its species but also the largest tree of any species east of the Sierra Nevada mountains, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It only makes sense that the largest bald cypress would be in Louisiana; it’s the official state tree. These particular rare trees are located in the Cat Island National Wildlife Refuge.
