Canada Investigates China's Alleged Dumping Of Hardwood Plywood

The Canada Border Services Agency has announced that it will initiate an antidumping and countervailing duty investigation into decorative and other non-structural plywood imported from China. For years, China has sold large volumes of decorative plywood in Canada at low prices.

If the CBSA issues a positive final determination, provisional duties may be imposed. In exceptional circumstances, antidumping duties may be imposed retroactively to June 11.

The CBSA's decision follows a complaint filed in April by the Canadian Hardwood Plywood and Veneer Association, in collaboration with industry leaders, alleging that hardwood plywood is being illegally dumped and subsidized by China and that this has caused injury to Canadian producers and workers.
